Nilagdaan na ni Pangulong Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. ang P5.268 trillion 2023 General Appropriations Act (GAA) na magiging pondo ng gobyerno para sa iba’t ibang proyekto, programa, serbisyo at pagtugon sa epekto ng Covid-19 pandemic sa bansa.
Kabilang sa mga prayoridad na popondohan sa ilalim ng GAA 2023 budget allocations ay ang pondo sa sektor ng edukasyon, imprastraktura sa ilalim ng “Build Better More” o BBM program ng Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), programang pangkalusugan, social welfare services, agrikultura at transportasyon.
Sa isinagawang ceremonial signing ng GAA sa Malakanyang, Biyernes ng hapon, Dec. 16, iginiit ng Pangulo na magiging gabay ng pamahalaan ang mabilis na pagkaka-pasa sa national budget upang ipagpatuloy ang mga programang magbibigay ng ginhawa sa mamamayan.
“And to see the rapidity of the passage is significant because it means that this budget, the roadmap that we have proposed from the Executive, is fully supported by our legislature. And that is very, very important indeed,” ani Marcos.
Nangako ang Pangulo na sisikapin ng pamahalaan na iparamdam sa tao ang ginhawang nararapat sa kabila ng matinding epekto ng Covid-19 sa ekonomiya at kabuhayan sa Pilipinas.
“It is always very important that the GAA has been put together in consonance with all of the plans of the Executive. And that kind of coordination and that kind of synergy that we will gain from that is going to be an essential part of the way that we move forward,” giit ng Pangulo.
Maliban sa mabilis na trabaho ng Kongreso, pinasalamatan din ng Pangulo ang Department of Budget and Management (DBM) sa masusing pagtimbang at masinop na pagbalangkas ng budget allocations para maisakatuparan ang mga priority projects ng pamahalaan.
