Umabot na sa 641,000 residente mula sa Visayas at Mindanao na biktima ng masamang panahon o “Shear Line” ang nabibigyan ng ayuda ng Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) mula noong bago mag-Pasko hanggang sa kasalukuyan.
Sa panayam ng programang Balitanghali kay DSWD spokesperson Asec. Romel Lopez, sinabi nito na nasa mahigit P50 milyon na rin ang nagagamit na pondo ng kagawaran para saklolohan ang mga biktima ng baha at pagguho ng lupa sa Kabisayaan, Bicol Region at Mindanao.
Ayon kay Lopez, bagama’t bahagyang bumubuti na ang lagay ng panahon sa ilang lugar na dinaanan ng shear line nitong Pasko, patuloy pa rin aniya ang pagdami ng mga indibidwal na nahahapit ng krisis.
Katunayan, maging ang mga residente umano ng Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) ay nangangailangan na rin ng ayuda mula sa DSWD dahil sa nararanasang epekto ng weather system o sama ng panahon.
Ani Lopez, base sa monitoring ng DSWD, nasa 4,146 kabahayan na ang nasira ng shear line simula nang humagupit ito noong nakaraang buwan hanggang sa kasalukuyan.
Samantala, pinasalamatan ng ahensya ang mga katuwang na local government units (LGUs), mga pribadong asosasyon at NGOs na kaakibat sa paghahatid ng mga food packs, cash assistance at iba pang ayuda.
Batay sa DSWD Disaster Response Operations Monitoring and Information Center (as of January 3), nasa 6,667 pamilya o katumbas ng 24,400 na indibidwal pa ang nananatili sa higit 100 evacuation centers sa siyam na rehiyon na nahagip ng shear line.
