“This is the only way to make a fresh start…”
Ito ang pahayag ni Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Benhur Abalos sa kanyang hamon sa mga heneral at colonel ng Philippine National Police (PNP) na sangkot sa illegal na bentahan ng droga sa bansa.
Ayon kay Abalos, hindi magtatagumpay ang anti-illegal drug campaign ng kasalukuyang administrasyon kung hindi mareresolba ang problema sa mismong hanay ng PNP na tagapagpatupad ng batas.
Sa ulat ng GMA News Online, inihayag ni Abalos sa isang press conference ang pagkabahala sa pagkakasangkot aniya ng ilang matataas na opisyal ng PNP sa mga illegal activities.
“Ako ay nananawagan sa lahat ng full colonel hanggang sa general, ako ay umaapela na mag-submit ng courtesy resignation. Alam kong mabibigla kayo pero this is the only way to make a fresh start,” ani Abalos.
Sa ngayon, nasa humigit-kumulang 300 full colonels at heneral ang kasalukuyang aktibong nasa serbisyo sa hanay ng PNP.
Sa ngayon, ayaw pang pangalanan ng DILG ang mga pinagsususpetsahang opisyal ng PNP na konektado sa mga illegal na aktibidad.
Ipauubaya na umano muna nila sa pamunuan ng PNP ang paglutas sa eskandalo at bahala na si PNP chief Police General Rodolfo Azurin Jr. na gumawa ng susunod na hakbang.
“Sana lang they will support this call. This is a very radical move, but we have to do this. Kung wala kang ginagawang masama, mag-file ka. At kung hindi ka mag-file medyo kuwestiyonable,” giit ni Abalos.
