Bumwelta si suspended Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) Director General Gerald Bantag at ipinukol ang sisi kay Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin “Boying” Remulla bilang “mastermind” o utak sa pagpaslang sa radio commentator na si Percival “Percy Lapid” Mabasa at sinasabing middleman na si Jun Villamor.
Ayon sa ulat ng ABS-CBN News, sinampahan ni Bantag noong Miyerkules, Jan. 4, si Remulla at iba pang indibidwal ng kasong kriminal at administratibo dahil sa Lapid-Villamor killings.
Inakusahan ni Bantag si Remulla na siyang nagpapatay kina Lapid at Villamor sa pamamagitan ng bilanggong si German “Herman” Agojo.
Murder case at grave misconduct, conduct prejudicial to the best interest of service at conduct unbecoming of a public official ang isinampa ni Bantag sa Office of the Ombudsman laban kay Remulla; BuCor acting Director General Gregorio Pio Catapang, Jr; German Agojo; Alfie Penaredondo; Aldrin Galicia; Mario Alvarez; at Alvin Labra.
Sinabi ni Catapang sa kanyang complaint na si Penaredondo (Peñaredonda) ang pinuno ng HappyGoLucky Gang sa bilibid. Si Galicia naman umano ang commander ng Sputnik Gang at si Labra ang lider ng Batang City Jail (BCJ) Gang.
Si Alvarez na miyembro ng Sputnik Gang kasama sina Labra ay Galicia ay kasama sa iniimbestigahan ng National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) na suspek sa pagpatay kay Villamor sa New Bilibid Prison (NBP) noong Oktubre 18, 2022.
Samantala sa isang TV interview, ipinagkibit-balikat lamang ni Remulla ang mga akusasyon ni Bantag.
Hihintayin na lamang umano ang magiging resulta ng imbestigasyon ng DOJ laban kay Bantag bago sila gumawa ng hakbang.
