Golden State Warriors superstar Stephen Curry will be out for an indefinite time after sustaining two tears in his lower left leg, the team confirmed Sunday (Monday, Manila time).
Curry underwent an MRI and was diagnosed with partial tears to his superior tibiofibular ligament and interosseous membrane in his left leg. The result also showed that he has a lower-leg contusion.
The said injury came during a matchup against the Dallas Mavericks on Saturday where the Golden State guard appeared to bang knees with Mckinley Wright IV with 2:01 minutes left in the third quarter.
Curry left the game limping to the locker room in discomfort and never returned.
Warriors head coach Steve Kerr did not provide an update after Saturday’s game on when Curry will come back but said he would keep his “fingers crossed” that the latter will eventually be okay.
“I think the main thing is he’s going to be out for a little bit. We’re going to reevaluate in a few days. And the good news is, he’s going to be back. We don’t exactly know when but it’s not an injury that’s going to keep him out for the season. He’s going to come back this season and hopefully sooner rather than later,” Kerr said.
Curry won’t be able to play against Oklahoma City on Monday. The injury will likely also prevent him from taking part in the All-Star Game on February 17.
