Inihayag nitong Lunes ng Land Transportation and Franchising Regulatory Board (LTFRB) na wala munang magaganap na phase out ng mga traditional jeepneys.
Ito ang naging desisyon ng LTFRB sa isinagawang final deliberation kahapon ng ahensya kaugnay sa planong phase out. Kung kaya in-extend uli ng LTFRB ang prangkisa ng may 25,000 traditional jeepneys sa Metro Manila na dapat ay magtatapos na sa darating na Abril ngayong taon. Ibig sabihin, maaari pang makabyahe ang mga tradisyunal na jeep sa kani-kanilang mga ruta.
Taong 2017 pa dapat ipinatupad ng pamahalaan ang jeepney modernization program subalit dahil sa apela at pakiusap ng mga driver at operator, pansamantala itong ipinagpaliban ng ahensya.
Ayon sa LTFRB, muling silang mag-aanunsyo ng petsa ng bagong deadline upang ganap na ipapatupad ang programa. Sa kasalukuyan, nasa 60 percent pa lamang sa targeted units ng jeepney ang sumailalim sa modernization program habang ang 40% ay hindi pa tumutugon.
