Naging matensyon ang isinasagawang clearing operation ng Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) noong Byernes, Pebrero 3 sa Lungsod ng Maynila.
Ito’y matapos sugurin nina Manila 2nd District Representative Rolando Valeriano at 3rd District Representative Joel Chua ang operasyon ng MMDA sa M. Natividad Street sa nasabing lungsod. Ayon sa dalawang mambabatas, “abuse of power” ang ginagawang ito ng MMDA. Wala daw kasing koordinasyon ang MMDA sa nasabing operasyon.
Mariin naman itong itinanggi ni Joel Polliarco, ang team leader ng nasabing operasyon. Paglilinaw nya, mayroon silang permit at nakipag-ugnayan din sila sa Manila Traffic and Parking Bureau at walong barangay na sakop ng operasyon.
Umapela din si Polliarco sa mga mambabatas na unawain ang MMDA na layon lamang nilang ang mabigyan ng kaayusan ang Maynila.
Matatandaan na nitong mga nakaraang linggo, nanawagan si Chua sa Kongreso na buwagin na ang MMDA. Panggulo lang daw ang ahensya dahil nanghihimasok sa hurisdiksyon ng local government units (LGUs) at national government agencies.
