Aangat sa 59-kilogram division si Filipino weightlifting superstar at Tokyo Gold medalist Hidilyn Diaz-Naranjo para sa 2024 Paris Olympics.
Mula sa 55kg, maglalaro sa mas mabigat na timbang si Diaz matapos alisin ang kanyang dating kategorya sa programa ng nalalapit na Summer Games.
“Sobrang hirap kasi parang magii-start uli at maglalaro ako sa 59 [kg division] so I have to gain weight, gain muscle, gain strength so parang back to zero,” wika ni Diaz.
Determinado aniya si Diaz na makuha ang kanyang ikalawang gintong medalya sa Paris Olympics. Subalit bago pa ito, kakailanganin niya munang dumaan uli sa mga qualifying games sa 59kg division ngayong taon.
“It will be [the] Olympics again next year, I’ll do everything to bring home the gold medal (again),” ani nito.
Nakatakdang sumabak ang Zamboangeña sa 2023 Asian Championships na gaganapin mula May 3 hanggang 13 sa Jinju, South Korea.
Sa torneyong ito, makakalaban ni Diaz ang isa pang Filipino weightlifting ace na si Elreen Ann Ando ng Cebu na kasama niyang inirepresenta ang bansa noong nakaraang 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
