Matinding takot at pagkabahala ang nararamdaman ngayon ng grupo ng mga lokal na opisyal ng pamahalaan dahil sa sunod-sunod na pananambang sa kanilang hanay.
Ayon kay Gov. Dakila Cua, Presidente ng Union of Local Authorities of the Philippines (ULAP), kakaiba na ang mga pag-atake sa mga LGU official. Ang panawagan nila ngayon sa Philippine National Police (PNP), paigtingin ang seguridad at kaligtasan ng mga komunidad at ng mga local government official.
“It is undeniable that the sizable number of killings of local government officials and the brazenness of this recent spate of deaths, combine to send a chilling message to our people, hindering the democratic process and threatening the stability of the nation,” ani Cua.
Ang ULAP ang samahan o grupo ng mga lokal na opisyal ng pamahalaan sa buong bansa. Saklaw ng ULAP ang mga opisyales ng bawat probinsya, lalawigan, munisipyo at barangay.
Kaugnay nito, binigyang-diin ng ULAP sa PNP ang mahigpit na police visibility sa mga lokal na pamahalaan. Nirekomenda rin ng gobernador na higpitan ang pagpapatupad ng Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act na nagbabawal sa iligal na pagdadala ng mga baril, at iba pang mga katulad na armas.
