Inaprubahan ni Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief Gen. Rodolfo Azurin Jr. ang pagsibak sa serbisyo sa isang pulis na dawit sa nasabat na P6.7 bilyon halaga ng shabu sa Maynila noong Oktubre nakaraang taon.
Ayon kay PNP spokesperson Col. Jean Fajardo, inaprubahan ni Azurin noong Marso 6 ang rekomendasyon ng Internal Affairs Service (IAS) na sibakin sa serbisyo si Master Sergeant Rodolfo Mayo Jr. dahil sa grave misconduct at conduct of unbecoming.
“The dismissal order of Sgt. Mayo is now for implementation after it was signed by the Chief PNP. He will receive nothing. All of his privileges as police are gone. His retirement benefits are all forfeited,” wika ni Fajardo.
Si Mayo ay isang dating intelligence operative ng PNP-Drug Enforcement Group (PNP-DEG).
Siya ay naaresto matapos mahulihan ng dalawang kilo ng shabu sa isinagawang buy-bust operation sa Quiapo, Manila noong Oktubre 2022 .
Ilang oras bago ang kanyang pagkakaaresto, nasa 900 kg ng shabu ang nasabat ng mga operatiba ng PNP-PDEG sa isang lending agency na umano’y kanyang pag aari sa Sta. Cruz, Manila.
Kasalukuyang nakapiit sa Camp Bagong Diwa sa Taguig si Mayo habang nililitis ang kanyang kaso kaugnay sa paglabag sa Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
“He is still in jail while his trial is ongoing in the criminal case for violation of Republic Act 9165, he will remain in the custody of the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology,” ani Fajardo.
Matatandaang ang insidenteng ito ang nag udyok kay Interior Secretary Benhur Abalos noong Enero na manawagan na magsumite ng courtesy resignation ang mga opisyal ng PNP na umano’y sangkot sa ilegal na droga.
