Isang estudyante sa Colegio San Agustin Makati ang namatay matapos mag-collapse habang naglalaro sa isang football varsity game noong linggo, March 26.
Kaagad namang dinala sa pinakamalapit na ospital ang estudyante na hindi pinangalan, subalit idineklara itong dead on arrival.
“The student was participating in a Football varsity game outside the school when he collapsed. He was immediately rushed to the nearest hospital, but could not be revived,” saad ng CSA-Makati sa isang statement.
“The cause of death is still unclear at this moment as we were informed that the hospital needs to conduct further examinations,” dagdag pang sinabi.
Idinagdag pa ng eskwelahan na nakikipag usap na sila sa pamilya at hospital personnel para sa mga detalye at assistance na ibibigay nito.
Sinabi ng CSA na nais nitong suportahan ang “lahat ng apektado ng balitang ito,” kabilang ang mga mag-aaral na mangangailangan ng espesyal na atensyon at mga tagapayo ng gabay.
Samantala, nagpaabot din ng lubos na pakikiramay ang Department of Education (DepEd) sa naulilang pamilya ng student-athlete.
“DepEd will be coordinating with the school and await the result of the said school’s investigation, in order to prevent such unfortunate incidents going forward,” saad ni Education Spokesperson Michael Poa sa kaniyang exclusive interview sa Manila Bulletin.
