Kinumpirma ni Benguet Governor Melchor Diclas na 13 bayan sa kanyang probinsya ang naapektuhan ng African swine fever (ASF).
Ang pahayag na ito ay sinabi ni Diclas matapos i-ulat ng Bureau of Animal Industry (BAI) na kumalat na ang virus sa 460 bayan at 54 na lalawigan sa bansa.
“All our 13 municipalities were affected by ASF. It started in the capital town, here in La Trinidad, which is near Baguio City. Then it spread to other areas and the outbreak started,” wika ni Diclas sa isang panayam sa radyo kahapon.
Ayon kay Diclas, nagsagawa ng culling operations o pagkatay ng mga baboy ang pamahalaang panlalawigan ng Benguet upang maiwasan ang pagkalat ng virus.
“At present, the outbreak is already controlled. We started again to raise hogs. Hopefully this will continue,” ani Diclas.
Ayon sa BAI, nasa 20 probinsya ang nananatiling hindi naapektuhan ng ASF. Ito ay ang Aklan, Antique, Basilan, Batanes, Biliran, Bohol, Bukidnon, Lanao del Sur, Maguindanao del Norte, Masbate, Misamis Occidental, Negros Occidental, Negros Oriental, Occidental Mindoro, Oriental Mindoro, Palawan, Romblon, Siquijor, Sulu at Tawi -Tawi.
