Patay ang limang magkakaibigan matapos tamaan ng kidlat ang kanilang pinagsisilungang kubo sa Barangay Binaton sa Digos City, Davao del Sur habang nakaligtas naman ang isa nilang kasama.
Ayon sa ulat ng Digos City PNP, nagpi-piknik ang mga biktima mula sa Camp Madeg’ger patungong Barangay Soong, Digos nang biglang bumuhos ang malakas na ulan dahilan upang sumilong ang grupo sa isang kubo ngunit direktang tinamaan ng malakas na kidlat.
Apat sa mga biktima ay agad na namatay. Tatlo sa kanila ay kinilalang sina Jeramae Cartagena, Hersalia Gabrielle at Jonmel Galicia.
Idineklara namang dead on arrival sa Davao del Sur Provincial Hospital ang isa pang biktima na kinilalang si Joy Villocino habang ginagamot naman ang kaibigan nilang si Clarence Cate Chatto.
Kaugnay nito, pinayuhan naman ng DRRMO ang publiko na kung malakas ang pag ulan na may kasamang pagkidlat ay iwasan na ang pagpunta sa matataas na lugar at open spaces.
