Inirerekomenda ng Department of Transportation (DOTr) ang paglalagay ng train platform barriers sa Metro Rail Transit Line 3 (MRT-3) kasunod ng insidenteng pagtalon ng isang 73 years old na lola sa riles noong Miyerkules, Abril 12.
Sa press briefing nitong kahapon, sinabi ni Transportation Assistant Secretary for Railways at MRT-3 officer in charge Jorjette Aquino na mayroon na dating proposal at muli lang nila itong imumungkahi.
“Kasama sa ating rekomendasyon ang install ng sinasabing platform screen doors or ‘yung mga barriers na nakikita niyo rin sa ibang bansa,” saad ni Aquino.
“In fact, noong nakaraang administrasyon, nagkaroon ng proposal na ganito kaya lang, dahil sa kakulangan sa budget, hindi ito natuloy. Sa administrasyong ito, ating ibabalik ang pag-pursue sa ganitong rekomendasyon kung kakayanin ng budget,” dagdag pang sinabi ni Aquino.
Patuloy naman ang paghihigpit ng seguridad ng mga security personnel sa MRT3.
