Mga Drayber na may hawak ng lima hanggang sampung taon na bisa ng Lisensya hindi na kailangan kumuha ng periodic medical examination ayon sa Land Transportation Office (LTO).
Ito’y Matapos amyendahan ng Hepe ng Ahensya na si Art Tugade ang LTO Memorandum 2012-2285 o ang Supplemental Implementing Rules and Regulations of Republic Act 10930, kung saan ito ang nagpapahaba ng bisa ng isang lisensya.
Ayon kay Tugade, wala naman nagpapatunay na ang periodic medical exam ay nakakabawas sa aksidente at hindi rin umano ito ang dahilan sa mga aksidente na nagaganap sa daan.
“For licenses who will be issued a five-year validity driver’s license and 10-year validity driver’s license, the medical examination shall only be required 60 days prior to or on the specified renewal date,” ani Tugade
Samantala ang mga Pinoy na may lisensya ngunit nagtatrabaho sa ibang bansa ang kinakailangan ng periodic medical exam bago sila makapagmaneho ulit ng 30 days o halos isang buwan simula ng kanilang pag babalik dito sa Pilipinas ay kailangan nila sumailalim sa nasabing exam.
Naniniwala din ang ahensya na magdadala ito ng tulong sa pinansyal na aspeto at maiiwasan pa ang abala na dulot nito sa mga Drayber.
Nangyari ito matapos maging epektibo ang price cap sa mga driving school noong abril 15 ayon sa memorandum ng LTO.
