Ayon kay Department of Information and Communication Technology (DICT), kanilang inaalam sa mga telecommunication companies ang posibilidad na isa-isang tanggalin ang mga mobile phone apps kung hindi agad magpaparehistro ang mga SIM card owners.
Hindi na magamit sa text, call at maging access sa social media tulad ng Facebook at Tiktok ay mawawala rin kapag ang SIM card ay hindi rehistrado, ginawa ito ng DICT upang mahikayat ang publiko na irehistro na ang kanilang mga SIM card.
“So this is the last chance. The law actually has our hands tied. We are only allowed to do this, the extension once and up to a certain period of time. Thereafter, it will be a hard deadline,” pahayag ni Uy sa Palace briefing noong Martes, Abril 25.
Pinaalalahanan din ni Uy ang publiko na hindi na magagamit ang SIM sa iba’t ibang serbisyo tulad ng hindi na sila maaaring makatawag o makapag padala ng mensahe gamit ang numero ng kanilang SIM card. Maging sa mga e-wallets gaya ng GCash, hindi na rin nila magagamit..
Sa obserbasyon umano ng ahensya tila hindi sineryoso ng publiko ang deadline ng SIM registration kaya ngayon ay tinitingnan nila kung ano ang maaaring parusa sa mga hindi magparehistro ng kanilang SIM card.
“Once we reach the 90-day, you will lose completely all services to all your SIM cards. So those are still being threshed out by the telcos as to which ones will be easier for them to implement and how do we schedule the gradual reduction of the services. So iyong mga matitigas ang ulo, they wanted some convincing whether we’re serious or not, makakatikim sila nitong mga incentives namin,” paliwanag ni Uy.
