Pinawalang-sala ng Muntinlupa Regional Trial Court si dating senador Leila de Lima sa ikalawang drug case na isinampa sa kanya.
Sa statement ni de Lima na binasa ng kanyang legal counsel na si Atty. Filibon Tacardon, masaya ang senadora sa naging desisyon ng Muntinlupa RTC Branch 204.
“Nagpapasalamat ako sa lahat ng naniniwala at sumama sa aking laban. Hindi ninyo ako iniwan. Hindi ninyo ako pinabayaan. Maraming salamat sa inyong paninindigan na balang araw ay makakamit ko ang katarungan, lalaya, at makakasama kayong muli. “
Kinatigan ng korte si de Lima matapos aminin ng testigo at dating Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) Chief Rafael Ragos na gumawa siya noon ng pekeng alegasyon laban sa senadora.
Sinabi ni Atty. Tacardon na hindi pa maaaring makalaya ang dating senadora dahil sa nakabinbin pang kaso sa Branch 256, kung saan naghain na sila ng bail plea.
Samantala sinabi ni Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla na nananaig ang rule of law sa bansa.
““The rule of law has prevailed and it just points out to us that the independence of the judiciary is a basic foundation of our democratic system. So it’s good, it’s good for us,” ani Remulla.
