Opisyal na nilisan ni Duterte ang Partido ngunit hindi naman nito nabanggit ang eksaktong dahilan ng kaniyang pagbibitiw.

Nangyari ang pagbibitiw ilang araw matapos alisin ng House of Representatives si Pampanga Representative at former President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo bilang Senior Deputy Speaker at ibaba bilang deputy speaker.
Si Arroyo ang Chairperson emeritus ng Lakas habang ang kasalukuyang House Speaker Martin Romualdez ay presidente ng nasabing partido.
Sinasabing malakas ang relasyon nina VP Sara at Arroyo. Napabalita din na may namumuong coup sa Kongreso na magbabalik umano kay Arroyo bilang House Speaker.
Ito naman ay mariing pinabulaanan ni Arroyo.“It should be noted that being speaker once more is no longer part of my political objectives.
