Halos nanlumo si newly-appointed Department of Health Secretary Ted Herbosa nang malaman nito ang datos ng Pilipinas ukol sa child stunting o kaso ng mga batang bansot sa Pilipinas.
Sa Malacanang press briefing nitong Martes, lumabas sa datos na nasa 21.6% ang stunting rate para sa mga batang Pilipino edad 23 months old pababa, at 28.7% sa mga edad lima pababa.
“I’m shocked. I’m really shocked. That’s high, I’m depressed now. I’m a doctor so when I see figures of people and see their lab results. We really need to do this,” ani Herbosa.
Sa parehong press briefing, tiniyak ni Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Secretary Rex Gatchalian na sisimulan na nila sa pagbubuntis pa lang ang pagbibigay ng tamang nutrition.
Inaayos na din ang Sistema upang hindi madoble ang feeding programs ng DSWD, DOH, Department of Education at mga Local Government Units.
