Simula August, magtataas na ng singil ng pamasahe sa LRT-1 at LRT-2, ayon sa Department of Transportation (DOTr).
Umaasa ang pamunuan ng DOTr na gamitin ang malilikom na pera sa fare hike upang matugunan ang regular na maintenance ng LRT na magdudulot naman ng mas magandang serbisyo.
“We at the Department of Transportation believe that this fare adjustment will contribute to maintaining affordable mass transportation services for the two commuter-train lines,” ani DOTr Assistant Secretary for Railways Jorjette Aquino.
Una nang inaprubahan ng Rail Regulatory Unit ng DOTr ang petition na dagdag ang singil ng boarding fee ng P2.29 at dagdag na 21 centavos kada kilometrong byahe sa LRT-1 at LRT-2.
Ibig sabihin nito, ang minimum boarding fee ay magtataas mula sa lumang P11.00 na bayad, ngayon ay magiging P13.29. Sa kada-pisong kilometro naman na byahe, magiging P1.21 na ang singil nito.Inaprubahan ni Transportation Secretary Jaime Bautista ang fare hike ng LRT matapos ang kanilang meeting sa Malacanang noong June 6.
