Naniniwala ang mga ekonomista na ang minimum wage hike sa National Capital Region (NCR) ay maaaring maging dulot ng inflation.
Noong isang linggo ay dinagdagan ng P40 ang minimum wage sa Metro Manila.
Ngunit ayon kay Aris Dacanay, isang economist sa ASEAN at HSBC, ang dagdag pasahod na magiging epektibo ngayon buwan ay isang banta sa pagtaas lalo ng inflation.
Ani Dacanay, ang magiging epekto sa inflation ng karagdagang pitong porsyento sa pasahod ay tinatayang 0.4 hanggang 0.6 porsyento.
“The wage hike is an upside risk to the economy’s inflation outlook, which has been easing as of late, and to the central bank’s policy rate outlook” ani ni Dacanay.
Binigyang diin din ni Dacanay na mahirap pa ring basahin ang mga posibleng mangyari sa ekonomiya sa mga susunod pang mga araw, lalo na at malaki ang posibilidad na lumobo pa ang inflation.
Ayon naman kay chief economist ng Rizal Commercial Banking Corp., Michael Ricafort ang nangyaring wage hike ay magmimistulang daan lamang para sa sinasabing second-round ng inflation. Makikita ang salpok nito sa pagtaas ng bilihin sa merkado o sa kahit ano pang pampublikong serbisyo. Ang regional tripartite wage and productivity board of the NCR ang umapruba sa dagdag na P40 sa sahod ng mga minimum wage earners, mula sa P570 ay naging P610 na magsisimula na ngayon buwan, Hulyo 16.
