The idea of BITAG came into fruition on a Maundy Thursday Evening. It was March 28, 2002. While on vacation in Plantation Bay Resort in Mactan Island, Cebu, Ben Tulfo conceived the idea of BITAG.
Two months later, Ben formed BST Tri-Media Production to produce the television program “BITAG” as a block timer. Its office was set up at Syjuco Bldg., 299 Kalaw Hill, Quezon City.
BITAG officially launched on September 14, 2002 at the Associated Broadcasting Corporation (ABC Channel 5).
On March of 2004, Intercontinental Broadcasting Corporation (IBC-13) offered Ben’s BITAG a TV primetime slot and a co-production contract. This was the start of Ben’s big break on television. Immediately after signing the contract, BITAG kicked-off its first episode with IBC-13.
April of 2010, BITAG still running strong at IBC-13 as well as UNTV but this time the show title changed to BITAG Live. ABS-CBN’s The Filipino Channel (TFC) knocked on BITAG’s door.
TFC offered BITAG to be on their program grid for their international market in the US, under BRO Channel, specifically targeting the Filipino male audience. Ben signed a two-year contract but lasted only a year and a half.
Last quarter of 2012, TV5 offered BITAG an exclusive contract. Ben terminated his contract with IBC-13. He was forced to pull BITAG out of ABS-CBN TFC because of his new exclusivity contract.
In 2014, Ben moved quickly to enter Pinoy US Cops and BITAG in a prime time block acquisition contract with People’s Television Network (PTV 4). Both shows are aired every Saturday 7:30 – 8:00 pm and 8:00 – 9:00 pm, respectively.
With much success and divine providence, the program evolved and became BITAG: The New Generation.
This time, the new breed of investigative journalists will expose abuses, negligence, and scams of the millennial generation.
Up to now, BITAG remains strong in the prime time grid of PTV-4.
