DOH lauds the 10th anniversary of RH Law

Department of Health (DOH) Officer-in-Charge Maria Rosario Singh-Vergeire joined partners, stakeholders, and legislators in celebrating the 10th Anniversary of Reproductive Health Law (RH Law) on Tuesday, Dec. 13.

In her message, Vergeire discussed several accomplishments of the law, adding that despite restrictions brought about by lockdowns, reproductive healthcare services in the country remained unhampered.

Moreover, the Health Chief presented strategic directions and interventions for the better implementation of the law.

Despite significant strides, the DOH recognizes that achieving reproductive health and primary care objectives will never be successful without the help of our allies, partners, and stakeholders,” she said.

Vergeire added that the DOH remains and will continue to be committed to upholding the right of every Filipino to health and reproductive health regardless of sex or gender, marital and socio-economic status, religion, and any affiliation.

Meanwhile, independent minority solon Albay 1st district Rep. Edcel Lagman took to Twitter to discuss a curiosity on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the RH Law.

The RH law is not anti-children, and having many children showed Cielo and me the rigors of raising a large family,” Lagman said.

Lagman is known to be the “father” of the RH Law as the author of RA10354, or the Responsible Parenthood and Reproductive Health Act of 2012, which provided universal access to contraception and fertility control to Filipino people.
