Garcia, Davis make weight

Unbeaten boxing superstars Gervonta “Tank” Davis and Ryan “KingRy” Garcia both easily made the limit of their 12-round catchweight battle Friday evening (Saturday morning, Manila time) in Las Vegas.

The 28-year-old Davis (28-0, 26 knockouts) came in at 135 ¼ pounds. Davis is a three-division world champion who currently holds the WBA world lightweight crown.

The charismatic 24-year-old Garcia (23-0, 19 KOs) tallied 135 ½ pounds. Despite his stardom, Garcia has never won a world crown.

“I touch that jaw, I’m telling you, you going to sleep,” Davis said. “I promise you, once I touch that jaw, you going to sleep. I’ll probably break your jaw. Facts!”

“This man’s never punished anybody in his life, man. This man’s always losing. You don’t punish nobody,” said Garcia.

No world title is at stake but the fight is still expected to command huge viewership owing to the status of both boxers.

Garcia and Davis agreed to fight at a catchweight of 136lbs, just one pound above the 135-lb lightweight limit.

The 12-round bout between Garcia and Davis will happen Saturday night (Sunday morning, Manila time) at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
