A Quezon City resident nearing his senior years formally claimed his ₱5.9 million jackpot prize from the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office’s (PCSO) Lotto 6/42 after hitting the winning combination 23-27-16–20-28-21 drawn on January 31, 2026.
The winner, who requested anonymity, personally received his check at the PCSO Main Office, expressing both gratitude and disbelief over his life-changing fortune.
According to the winner, his victory carries a deeper meaning beyond financial gain. He revealed that two decades ago, during one of the most difficult chapters of his family’s life, PCSO extended medical assistance to his brother, who was battling cancer and undergoing chemotherapy treatments.
“I started patronizing the lotto games after seeing how PCSO helped my brother during his hardest time,” he shared. “He was already in a terminal condition then. After 20 years of playing, I finally became a jackpot winner.”
For him, the win is not merely luck but a blessing he believes has come full circle.
Moved by gratitude, the winner vowed to share a portion of his prize with a charitable institution that holds religious significance to him. He said the donation is his way of giving thanks for the continuous blessings he has received and for the support once extended to his family.
PCSO reiterated that proceeds from lotto games help fund its charity programs, including medical assistance for indigent patients nationwide — a mission that, in this case, has come full circle for one grateful family.
As he looks ahead to a more secure future, the Quezon City winner hopes his story will inspire others to remain hopeful even in life’s most trying times and always remember the value of giving back.
