February 16, 2024 – The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) and the Philippine National Police Anti-Cybercrime Group (PNP-ACG) have arrested 12 individuals for operating an illegal online gaming platform in an exclusive subdivision in Paranaque City. The arrests followed a month-long surveillance operation.
The suspects were operating “Big Bet,” an illegal gaming site offering slot machines, live casino games, and e-sports, according to PAGCOR Chairman Alejandro Tengco. The suspects were caught red-handed during a raid authorized by a search and seizure warrant.

The raid took place in the BF Northwest Subdivision, a high-end residential area. Authorities confiscated 11 computer sets, 21 mobile phones, 2 iPads, 6 laptops, and several flash drives.

PAGCOR’s Senior Vice President Raul Villanueva urged the public to steer clear of illegal gambling sites and indicated that PAGCOR will keep working with law enforcement to stop such activities.
“The operation was part of our unified efforts to intensify the fight against illegal online gambling because we have a marching order from PAGCOR Chairman Alejandro Tengco to put a stop to these illegal activities,” VP Villanueva said.
The agency reports that while around 5,000 illegal gaming sites were once active in the country, 80% have been blocked.
