Eight-division champ Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao is far from hanging his fighting gear and still gunning for a comeback duel against UFC superstar Connor McGregor or a rematch with Floyd “Money” Mayweather Jr.
An insider from Pacquiao’s camp on Tuesday, Dec. 12, revealed to BITAG Media Digital (BMD) that Pacquiao is likely to collide with the UFC former lightweight champion for his next fight as the ‘negotiating table’ is working on it.
“Mayroong mga preparations na. Matutuloy ‘yan,” the insider voiced.
A potential boxing match between Pacquiao and McGregor was already on track in 2020 after Pacquiao signed with Paradigm Sports Management – the firm representing McGregor and other high-profile athletes in sports promotion.
The mega bout, however, failed to materialize after the Irishman broke his leg in an emphatic defeat to Dustin Poirer in their trilogy fight in UFC 264.
Moreover, the insider said Pacquiao is showing interest in a comeback fight against his old rival Mayweather soon.
In a recent interview by FightHype.com, Pacquiao said Mayweather is scared to death to fight him when asked about the possibility of a rematch.
Pacquiao’s camp is pushing for a 12-round fight against Mayweather.
Mayweather-Pacquiao clashed in 2015 with the undefeated American boxing superstar defeated the Filipino boxing great in a unanimous decision.
Pacquiao announced his retirement shortly after the unexpected defeat to Cuban professional boxer Yordenis Ugas in August 2021.
However, the Filipino boxing icon made his formidable comeback in the ring on Dec. 11, where he dominated the exhibition match against South Korean martial artist and Youtuber DK Yoo in Goyang, South Korea.
