Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Alejandro H. Tengco was named Best Entertainment Tourism Leader during the 32nd Skål International Makati Tourism Personality Awards on Thursday, February 26, at the Grand Ballroom of Okada Manila.
Organized by Skål International Makati, the annual event honors individuals and institutions who made significant contributions to advance the Philippine tourism industry.
Mr. Tengco’s recognition highlights PAGCOR’s growing role in strengthening the entertainment and integrated resort sector.

Under his leadership, PAGCOR has positioned regulated gaming not only as a source of public revenue but also as a strategic partner in tourism development.
“While many see us primarily as a gaming regulator, we see ourselves as partners in promoting destinations, creating jobs, and strengthening the tourism ecosystem that improves the lives of millions of Filipinos,” Mr. Tengco said in his acceptance remarks.
He noted that responsibly managed integrated resorts help attract domestic and foreign travelers, spur local enterprise, and expand livelihood opportunities in host communities.

Beyond its regulatory mandate, PAGCOR has also stepped up support for sports tourism, including its recent inclusion in the National Sports Tourism Inter-Agency Committee which seeks to elevate the industry through major sporting events that generate revenue and inspire audiences here and abroad.
Also honored during the ceremony were Kyle Jennerman for Social Media Content; Lance Tan for Best Amusement and Entertainment Entity; Seferina Joven as Tour Operator of the Year; Crystal Jacinto for Best Health and Wellness Tourism; Takako Okada for Outstanding MICE Property; Kevin Tan for Best Integrated Hotels and Resorts; Margarita Nograles for Best Government Institution; and world champion gymnast Carlos Yulo, who received the Icon Award for Sports Tourism.
