BAGAMAT malaki ang ambag ng online gaming sa kita ng pamahalaan, inamin ng Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) na mabigat din ang panganib na dulot ng mga naglilipanang ilegal na site.
Sa kanyang ulat sa House Committee on Games and Amusements, sinabi ni PAGCOR Chairman and CEO Alejandro H. Tengco na umabot sa Php69 bilyon ang nalikom na license fees ng online gaming mula Enero hanggang Hulyo ngayong taon.
Sa naturang halaga, Php41 bilyon ang galing sa electronic games (E-Games) habang Php28 bilyon naman ang mula sa iba pang online game offerings.
“Because of its huge potential, online gaming has become an important source of funds for our nation-building commitments, including PAGCOR’s support for education, health care, and community development,” ani G. Tengco.
Dagdag pa niya, Php27.47 bilyon ang naiambag ng online gaming sa nation-building projects mula Enero hanggang Hulyo 2025, kabilang ang Php14.72 bilyon para sa Universal Health Care Law.
Kabilang din sa mga proyekto ng PAGCOR na sinusuportahan ng kita mula online gaming ang pagpapatayo ng mga paaralan, socio-civic centers, wellness centers at E-Learning hubs.
“Every peso we collect from the gaming sector translates to meaningful projects such as classrooms for our children, health programs for our people, and safe spaces for communities in times of calamity. This is how we ensure that gaming directly benefits Filipinos,” sabi pa ng PAGCOR chief.
Gayunman, nagbabala siya sa banta ng mga ilegal na online operator na nanghihikayat ng mga manlalaro nang walang sapat na proteksyon.
“These illegal sites not only deprive the government of much-needed revenues but also expose Filipino players to numerous risks,” ani G. Tengco.
Tiniyak naman niya na mas paiigtingin ang laban kontra ilegal na operasyon. “PAGCOR is committed to strengthening regulation and enforcement to ensure that only legitimate and properly monitored operators are allowed to operate,” dagdag niya.
