The Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) provided assistance to several municipalities in Occidental and Oriental Mindoro through the distribution of thousands of ChariTimba food packs and medical assistive devices to vulnerable sectors.
The outreach activities began in the Municipality of Santa Cruz, Occidental Mindoro on February 18, 2026, where 500 ChariTimba units were turned over to the local government. The distribution was led by PCSO Director Janet Mercado and PCSO Occidental Mindoro Branch Head Rowena Rebaldo. The food packs which contained essential items such as rice, canned goods, coffee, instant beverages, and cereals, were given to senior citizens and persons with disabilities (PWDs) in Poblacion I. Local officials described the assistance as a significant relief, particularly for families whose primary livelihood is fishing.
Following the distribution in Occidental Mindoro, the PCSO Team proceeded to Oriental Mindoro to continue its relief efforts. On February 19, a total of 1,000 ChariTimba food packs were distributed to residents of Roxas, Oriental Mindoro in coordination with Mayor Jerwin Dimapilis. Priority beneficiaries included members of Indigenous Peoples (IP) particularly the Mangyan community
The next day, February 20, the activity continued in the Municipality of Socorro, Oriental Mindoro, where another batch of 1,000 ChariTimba were distributed alongside various medical assistive devices. These included 20 walkers, 20 canes, 20 crutches, 20 blood pressure apparatus, 20 glucometers, and 20 pulse oximeters, primarily allocated to PWDs.
Punong Bayan Nemmen Perez expressed her gratitude for the assistance, noting that the aid would help address immediate needs in communities with limited access to adequate food supplies and healthcare resources. The initiative also underscored the importance of collaboration between national agencies and local government units in delivering essential services to underserved populations.
The distributions were carried out in accordance with PCSO’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), which aims to provide immediate assistance to communities across the country. The effort also supports the broader goal of the national government under President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. to bring government services closer to Filipinos, especially those who are most in need.
