PUERTO PRINCESA TO HOST IRONMAN 70.3

The City of Puerto Princesa will host the IRONMAN 70.3 on November 13, with over 1,300 athletes expected to participate in the event to test their mental and physical strength.

The capital city of Palawan will play host to the international triathlon race featuring a 1.9km swim, 90km bike, and 21km run event.

Countries participating in the grueling event were Brazil, Thailand, the Netherlands, South Africa, Vietnam, New Zealand, Ireland, Spain, Italy, Sweden, Turkey, Korea, Kazakhstan, Malaysia, Saint Lucia, and Guatemala.

“For a long time, we have dreamed of bringing the IRONMAN 70.3 to Puerto Princesa, and now it’s here, we can’t help our excitement,” said race director Neville Manaois.

Ambulances, paramedics, and other health services will be deployed in corresponding areas, according to Puerto Princesa Mayor Lucilo Bayron, to ensure safety and untoward occurrence during the event.

The event place also underwent water examinations to ensure the safety of the athletes.

Bayron said the much-awaited event, which is said, is seen to bolster the tourism industry of Puerto Princesa, noting thousands of spectators worldwide will gather to witness the thrilling race.
