Tinatayang nasa P63 milyong halaga ng smuggled na frozen foods mula sa Hong Kong at China ang nasabat ng Bureau of Customs (BOC) sa Manila International Container Port (MICP).
Ayon sa ulat ng Customs Intelligence and Investigation Service (CIIS), natuklasan ang mga smuggled meat products mula sa apat na container van na naka-deklarang frozen na hipon.
“Four containers contained frozen foods that the consignees did not declare in their manifest. I have personally expressed my confidence to the team, and thanked them for their relentless pursuit of these smugglers,” ani Commissioner Yogi Filemon Ruiz.
Ani Ruiz, ang apat na mis-declared shipment na dumating sa MICP noong Nov. 17 at 18 ay nagkakahalaga ng P15,750,000 bawat container.
Samantala, inatasan ni Ruiz ang mga custom officials na paigtingin pa ang pagbabantay sa mga pumapasok na kargamento sa BOC upang masiguro na walang makakapasok na smuggled products sa bansa.
“We are simply complying with the directive of our President to continue our drive against the smuggling of agricultural products and protecting our markets and the prices of our products,” dagdag ng opisyal.
