Nagbitiw na si Vice-President Sara Duterte bilang Chairperson ng Lakas-CMD.
Opisyal na nilisan ni Duterte ang Partido ngunit hindi naman nito nabanggit ang eksaktong dahilan ng kaniyang pagbibitiw.
“I am here today because of the trust of the Filipino people in me to lead and serve them and the country, and this cannot be poisoned by political toxicity or undermined by execrable political powerplay,” ani Duterte.
Nangyari ang pagbibitiw ilang araw matapos alisin ng House of Representatives si Pampanga Representative at former President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo bilang Senior Deputy Speaker at ibaba bilang deputy speaker.
Si Arroyo ang Chairperson emeritus ng Lakas habang ang kasalukuyang House Speaker Martin Romualdez ay presidente ng nasabing partido.
Sinasabing malakas ang relasyon nina VP Sara at Arroyo. Napabalita din na may namumuong coup sa Kongreso na magbabalik umano kay Arroyo bilang House Speaker.
Ito naman ay mariing pinabulaanan ni Arroyo.“It should be noted that being speaker once more is no longer part of my political objectives. This has been my position ever since Speaker Romualdez was elected in the 19th Congress, and I continue to urge my Lakas-CMD party mates to support our party president in that role,” ani Arroyo.
