Nakumpirma na lokasyon ng lumubog na motor tanker (MT) Princess Empress na may kargang 800,000 liters ng industrial fuel.
Ayon kay Oriental Mindoro Gov. Humerlito Dolor, ang tanker ay natagpuan sa distansyang 7.5 nautical miles mula sa Balingawan Point sa bayan ng Pola, 1,200 feet o 400 meters below sea.

Tinatayang apektado ng oil spill ang 20,000 hectares ng coral reefs, 9,900 hectares ng mangroves at 6,000 hectares of seagrass beds sa Oriental Mindoro, Occidental Mindoro, Palawan and Antique.
Apekatado din ang mahigit dalawang milyon residente kabilang dito ang mga umaasa pangingisda at turismo.
Ikinabahala din Department of Tourism ang naging epekto nito sa mga tourist spot. Sinabi ni Tourism Secretary Christina G. Frasco tinitignan na nila ang mga Marine Protected Areas, fist sanctuaries at beach resorts.
“Scuba diving, beach, and cruise tourism depend on the region’s coastal resources, and are also its major tourism products. If unmitigated, the oil spill can have adverse impacts on three of the world-class dive destinations in the Philippines, specifically the Verde Island passage and Apo Reef in Mindoro, and Coron’s World War II Wrecks and Philippine Dugong,” pahayag ni Frasco.
Sinabi naman ng Department of Health, nakatanggap na din sila ng mga ulat na nagsimula na din magkasakit ang mga residente kung saan dinadaing ang hirap sa paghinga, pananakit ng sikmura, at pagsusuka.
Sinimulan na din ipasuri ang mga pinagkukunan inumin tubig ng mga residente upang malaman kung kontaminado ito ng tumagas na langis.
Samantala nangako naman ang kumpanya na nagmamay-ari ng MT Princess Empress na tutugunan ang cleanup at mapatigil ang paglabas ng langis mula sa lumubog na oil tanker.
