Posibleng tigil operasyon muna ang Philippine National Railways (PNR) simula buwan ng Mayo upang magbigay daan sa konstruksyon ng North-South Commuter Railway (NSCR) project.
Ayon kay PNR General Manager Jeremy Regino, una nilang ititigil ang biyaheng Alabang sa Muntinlupa City, patungong Calamba City sa Laguna. Pagdating naman ng Oktubre ititigil na rin ang operasyon mula Tutuban, Manila hanggang Alabang, Muntinlupa. Aabutin ng limang taon ang NSCR project na magdudugtong sa Metro Manila hanggang Laguna.
Sinabi rin ni Department of Transportation Undersecretary Cesar Chavez na ang dahilan ng pagsuspinde ng byahe ng PNR ay para maging ligtas, maginhawa at mabilis na matapos ang proyekto.
“Ang tingin ko mga limang taon. Pero pagkatapos ng limang taon, limang taon mula ngayon, may substantial completion na tayo. Mas maayos na at maginhawa ang sasakyan nila,” saad ni Chavez.
Inaasahang nasa 30,000 na pasahero ng PNR ang maaapektuhan dahil sa tigil operasyon na mangyayari mayo.
