CALOOCAN CITY — The BITAG Investigative Team recently visited Caloocan City Hall to help a local resident who was treated unfairly. The resident was reportedly forced into handcuffs by Barangay Tanods. The whole trouble started all because of a dog, leading to a resident being handcuffed and hurt.
Abuse of Power
The case started when BITAG received a report about a resident being treated like a criminal. These village guards are supposed to keep the peace, not act like they are above the law. BITAG stepped in to make sure the voice of the ordinary citizen was heard by the top officials of the city.
“No One is Above the Law”
During the visit, Mayor Along Malapitan was very clear. He told the BITAG team that he does not allow any official to bully the people of Caloocan.
“Here in Caloocan, we will not tolerate wrongdoings. We have already suspended many barangay officials. If they made a mistake, we will not hide it. We will make sure they are punished.”
The Mayor’s message is simple: if you abuse your position, you will face the consequences.
Why BITAG Went to the City Hall
This visit is part of BITAG Next Generation’s mission. We go directly to the leaders to get solutions. We want to make sure that “small-time” officials do not get away with hurting the people they are supposed to protect.
