MANDALUYONG CITY – The Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) donated 30 wheelchairs to the First District of Zamboanga City in a turnover ceremony held at the agency’s Main Office along Shaw Boulevard on August 13, 2026.
The ceremony was led by PCSO Executive Assistant Atty. Maria Katrina Nicole Ventanilla, highlighting the agency’s continuing commitment to providing assistance and support to vulnerable sectors of society through its various social responsibility programs.
The donated wheelchairs were formally received by Allan Silong, Congressional Staff and representative of Congresswoman Katrina Chua – Tai. On behalf of the congresswoman and the beneficiaries, Silong expressed his gratitude to PCSO for the donation, emphasizing its importance to residents who require mobility assistance.
According to Silong, the wheelchairs will greatly benefit senior citizens and persons with disabilities (PWDs) in the district, particularly those who face challenges in carrying out their daily activities due to limited mobility. He noted that access to mobility aids can significantly improve the quality of life of beneficiaries by helping them become more independent and active members of their communities.
The turnover was conducted under the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Program of PCSO, which aims to extend assistance to disadvantaged and underserved individuals, especially those who have limited access to essential support services.
The donation of the 30 wheelchairs reflects PCSO’s ongoing efforts to foster inclusive and compassionate public service, ensuring that assistance reaches individuals and communities who can benefit most from such interventions. By partnering with local stakeholders and community representatives, the agency continues to strengthen its mission of providing hope, accessibility, and opportunities for a better quality of life for Filipinos nationwide.
